Burglaries Reported At Businesses Around Marple

Three recent burglaries were reported at businesses in Marple Township. The following information was received by the Marple Township Police Department.

Cut Pieces of Metal Found Missing

On May 29 at approximately 4:14 a.m., police responded to the 500 block of Abbott Drive for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police spoke with a employee who told police he had arrived that morning at 4 a.m. and found some metal cuts lying on the floor. In addition, the employee discovered two hand carts left by the garage door, one of which had a sheet of stainless steel on it which was now missing. In addition, the employee observed there was a glass windowpane on his desk. The metal clasps that held the pane in place were found bent. A jar of screws had been knocked to the floor and shoe prints were discovered. The employee told police that many cut pieces of metal were reported missing prior to that weekend. Police are further investigating this incident.

Leaf Blower, Rotors, and Gasoline Stolen

On May 29 at approximately 9:31 a.m., police responded to on 460 Abbot Drive for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police spoke with the owner who showed police a brown storage shed in the rear of the building and a white storage trailer in which both were both broken into overnight. The co-owner was also at the business until 8:30 the night before, in which everything appeared to be in normal condition. At 9 a.m. that morning, the padlocks on both the shed and trailer were found to be cut. An Echo leaf blower, two brake rotors, and a 5-gallon red gas can containing gasoline were all that were reported taken. Police are further investigating this incident.

Cash, Keys Found Missing at Car Wash

On May 28 at approximately 6:34 a.m., police responded to Gallens Auto Wash on West Chester Pike/Rt. 3 and Evergreen Avenue for a reported burglary. According to the report, an unknown actor(s) entered the building through the garage door facing Evergreen Avenue, which was discovered forced in. The complainant told police he went into the electrical room and checked on top of one of the circuit panels, where the keys to the outside machines and a cash drawer were kept. The cash drawer and a set of keys were found missing. In addition, approximately $20 was also reported missing from a desk drawer. One of the machines was reported to have cash missing, another of which the lock cylinders appeared to be damaged. Police are further investigating this incident.
