Burglars Drop TV on Front Lawn and Flee, Police Say

A neighbor noticed suspicious people and vehicles at a residence and immediately called police.

Marple Township Police responded to a report of suspicious people and vehicles at a residence on the 2000 block of Boxwood Drive in Broomall at about 11:20 a.m on March 25.

A witness told police she saw a white sedan, possibly a Dodge Avenger, back into the driveway of a residence across the street and saw two black men attempting to load a flat screen TV into the car, according to the report.

The witness told police the men could not get the TV in the car and dropped it on the front lawn and drove off, according to the report.

The driver of the Avenger was described as a man wearing a hoodie, according to the report. Another man was seen running from the front door and got into a black sedan, possibly a Nissan Altima, that followed behind the white Avenger, toward Paxon Hollow Road, according to the report.

Police were unable to locate either of the vehicles, according to the report.

Police responded to the burglarized residence and found a large, flat screen TV laying face down on the front lawn, the front door was open and the front room of the house appeared to be in disarray with several drawers open, according to the report.

Police entered and cleared the home and found no one inside but every room was in disarray, according to the report.

A rear room window was found completely open with the blinds down but no footprints were found in the backyard where it had been snowing, according to the report. It was later determined that the front door was forced open and there were wood splinters from the door jam and screws laying on the floor, according to the report.

Police called the resident of the home to inform him of the burglary, according to the report.
