Burglary Turns Into Armed Robbery at Newtown Laundromat

Newtown Police Department is seeking the public's help in identifying the man in the photos who allegedly pulled a knife on a laundromat patron on Sunday, Jan. 22, at the Newtown Square Laundromat.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The released photos on Wednesday morning of a man who was allegedly involved in an armed robbery at the on Sunday.

The robbery occurred at the laundromat, located off of West Chester Pike/Route 3 and Clyde Lane in Newtown Square, at approximately 11:30 a.m. Sunday. According to police, the suspect was in the process of committing a burglary at the laundromat when a patron walked in while the burglary was being committed.

Det. John Newell said the suspect then turned on the patron with a knife and attempted to rob him of his wallet and vehicle. According to Newell, the robbery was stopped when a passerby called police in which the man fled the area.

After further investigation, police observed the man on the 's videocamera stealing cigarettes and coffee before the robbery incident earlier on Sunday.
