Thefts: Bicycle, Sunglasses, Alcohol, More

The following information has been supplied by the Newtown Township Police Department. If arrests or charges are mentioned, they do not indicate guilt or a conviction.

Bicycle Stolen

On Aug. 11 around 8 p.m., a bicycle that was not locked up outside was removed. The owner had been inside for about half an hour when his orange BMX bike, worth approximately $400, was removed from where it was parked. There were tire marks headed eastbound on West Chester Pike/Rt. 3, according to the report.

Stolen Sunglasses

A woman’s sunglasses were stolen while inside located on Winding Way in Newtown Square. The $450 sunglasses were resting on a separate countertop as their owner went to the teller counter. This happened on Aug. 2 around 10:30 a.m., according to the police report.

Theft From Auto

On Aug. 8 around 10:40 a.m., someone broke into a white Landrover parked near the 1700 block of Bishop Hollow Drive and stole a purse. The black Coach bag worth $100 contained various credit, debit and gift cards. The passenger rear window was smashed and the purse was removed from the back seat, according to the report.

Theft of Alcoholic Beverage

According to police, a man walked out of a shop on Alpha Drive shielding an alcoholic beverage under his shirt on Aug. 8 around 6:51 p.m.  He wore a white shirt with orange stripes and black pants and was last seen walking toward McDonald’s in Newtown Square.

Theft From Building

On Aug. 9 at 9 a.m., an employee at a business on 3800 West Chester Pike reported two laptops missing. All doors were secured. One laptop was recovered under a stack of papers in an office. The IT employees stated that other laptop was activated after the business was closed.
