Delco Sheriff: Be Aware of Jury Duty Scam

Residents are told that bench warrants have been issued for their arrest for failure to appear for jury duty and are told they must pay a fine to resolve the issue.

The Delaware County Sheriff's Office wants residents to be aware of a telephone scam.

Multiple residents have reported receiving calls from people claiming to be with the Sheriff's Office, The Delco Times reported. Some of the calls even appear on Caller ID to come from the Sheriff's Office.

Residents are told that bench warrants have been issued for their arrest for failure to appear for jury duty, Delco Times said, and are told they must pay a fine to resolve the issue.

Residents should not provide any money or personal information if they receive such a call, the Sheriff's Office told the Delco Times. Notify local police if you receive such a call.
