DUI Checkpoints In Marple This Weekend

The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce police will conduct sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols in Marple Township.

BROOMALL–The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce will conduct sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols this weekend in Marple Township in an effort to stop drunk driving, according to a press release.

The efforts will be conducted Friday, Sept. 14, through Sunday, Sept. 16. The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce comprises of six municipalities: Haverford, Marple, , Radnor, Springfield and Upper Darby Townships. 

The taskforce has been in operation since September 2009 and has conducted 31 operations to date.

Since 2009, the taskforce:

  • Has arrested 70 drivers for Driving Under the Influence of alcohol or drugs;
  • Issued 26 citations for underage drinking;
  • Issued 419 citations; and 
  • Issued 426 warnings for other motor vehicle violations.

The purpose of the Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce is to save lives on the roadways and reduce injuries by aggressively enforcing DUI laws. Sobriety checkpoints are a proactive visual deterrent while also removing impaired drivers.

Roving patrols are traffic details with the main goals to spot and stop possible impaired driversbefore they can cause harm to innocent unsuspecting motorists traveling on our roadways.

The Northern Delaware County DUI Taskforce reminds all drivers over the age of 21 to beresponsible and never operate a motor vehicle while impaired. Read carefully all instruction labels on prescriptions or over-the-counter medications, and make arrangements prior to consuming alcohol for a designated driver. Don’t risk arrest, injury or death.
