A brush fire swept through about an acre of woods at Dunwoody Village late Saturday night.

The fire, of which the cause is undetermined, took place between Dunwoody Village, a retirement community, and the back side of the lower fields at Marple Newtown High School, Newtown Square Fire Co. Chief Doug Simpson told Marple Newtown Patch.

The fire company was dispatched to the area around 9:30 p.m. for the report of a fire. Crews were there until about 1 a.m., he said.

Brush trucks, small four-wheel drive pick-ups used for tight spaces and field fires, from Paoli, Malvern and Rocky Run companies assisted in extinguishing the fire.
