Fire Engulfs Cleaners Van at Car Dealership

A van caught on fire at the Subaru Rafferty dealership on Sunday.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–A van caught on fire at the Subaru Rafferty dealership in Newtown Square on Sunday.

Both Newtown Square and Broomall fire companies responded to the scene for the vehicle fire. Upon arrival, firefighters found a cleaners van "heavily involved in fire under an overhang with possible extension to the building," according to fire photographer Mark Walsh, of IrishEyez Photography.

Walsh said the call was upgraded to a building fire but after several checks on the building, it was determined the fire did not extend into the building and crews extinguished the van fire.

Other responding fire companies included Edgmont, Rose Tree, and Media. No injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

The mother of my children's car was next to the van, she was having her car serviced. The car is now totaled, and she is already getting the run around on the replacement of her car. Shame on you Rafferty, and the owner of the detail van.

You should replace the car that was there being serviced!! It's the right thing to do! If you don't do it it should be done under the insurance of the van that caught on fire. I came from that area and know people that have delt with your place that would be very unhappy to hear how she is being treated...please do the right thing!

can u please tell me how it is rafferty subaru's fault that van caught fire and why they should be responsible for damage to the other persons car? That would be the owner of the vans fault and if they have no insurance then it would go under your own insurance some of you people on here need to think before you speak
