Mailbox Destroyed, Swastikas Found on Cars, Police Say

Several acts of vandalism occurred on Mischief Night.

Marple Township Police are investigating several acts of vandalism including a mailbox being blown up and swastikas that were found on vehicles on or around Mischief Night.

A resident of the 200 block of Martins Run Road in Broomall told police that someone blew up his mailbox sometime after 10 p.m. on Oct. 27, according to Marple Police.

The mailbox did contain mail, which was damaged in the incident, and the mailbox was estimated to cost about $400, according to police. The resident told police he did not see or hear anything overnight.

On Oct. 30, a resident of the unit block of Brighton Terrace in Broomall told police that overnight someone destroyed the portable basketball net, which was sitting at the end of the street, according to police, it appeared that the bolts were removed and then the net was pushed over. 

The woman believed the net was worth about $400, according to police.

A man arrived at his in-laws house at the 300 block of Westfield Drive in Broomall around 6 p.m. on Oct. 30 and noticed two swastikas on the two rear, drivers side windows of his Acura RDX, according to police.

The man had no idea who may have done it or what time it was done, according to police.

While police were investigating, they noticed a neighbor's black Ford Focus, also had drawings all over the vehicle windows.

Both sets of drawings appeared to have been done with soap, according to police.

Police were unable to contact the neighbor.
