Drivers Injured In Major Two-Car Crash

A two-car collision on Parkway Avenue and Lawrence Road caused a road closure and major injuries to both drivers Feb. 9.

BROOMALL–During the peak of rush hour traffic on Wednesday evening at approximately 5 p.m., Marple police responded to a two-car collision near the intersection on Lawrence Road and Parkway Avenue.

According to police, one car was coming out of the driveway of the Rittenhouse of Broomall apartment building when the car collided with another vehicle.

Marple police said both the drivers were transported to a hospital. One was taken by ground by Marple EMS while the other, possibly a trauma victim, was flown by helicopter to a hospital.

The crash left both vehicles facing the same direction toward Parkway Avenue. The car coming out the apartment building was on the correct side of traffic on Lawrence Road while the other car was in the opposite lane facing oncoming traffic.

A portion of Lawrence Road between Parkway Avenue and Sproul Road was closed to traffic due to the accident. The road was closed for approximately 30 minutes. Marple traffic police rerouted traffic from Lawrence Road to Parkway Avenue while no turns were allowed off of Sproul Road onto Lawrence Road.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene. Police are still investigating this incident.
