Man Steals Bob Marley CDs from Starbucks, Police Say

A similar theft occurred months ago at another area Starbucks, police say.

A man recently stole CDs from Starbucks and there was a similar theft that took place at another area Starbucks in March, police say.

On June 27 at about 3:48 p.m. a black man in his late 40's or early 50's with an athletic build, walked into Starbucks on the 2500 block of West Chester Pike in Broomall and took three Bob Marley CDs and two The Band CDs, each valued at $12.95, according to Marple Township Police.

An employee told police that the man, wearing a red shirt, green pants and carrying a backpack, struck up a converstation with another employee regarding health information of some food products, according to police.

As the employee was distracted retrieving the information, the man went over to the checkout counter and grabbed the CDs from the shelf and wrapped them in a McDonald’s plastic bag, according to police.

The employee was familiar with this same man from a theft of the same nature that occureed at the Newtown Square Starbucks, according to police.

She walked over to the CD counter and immediately noticed an empty space on the shelf where CDs were a few minutes prior and asked where the CDs were, according to police.

The man responded, “What? You wanna check my bag?” and then turned and walked out the door, never purchasing anything, according to police.

The employee immediately called police as she watched the man walk westwound along West Chester Pike, according to police, the area was searched but the man could not be locate.

The employee told police the man had no facial hair and the side of his face was slouched, like a person who had had a stroke, according to police, and he was carrying a khaki- or fatique-colored backpack.
