Man Struck By Lightning During Friday's T-Storm?

Newtown police received a report that a Newtown Square man was struck by lightning on Friday, June 22, during the severe thunderstorm.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Lt. Chris Lunn, of the , confirmed with Marple Newtown Patch on Monday that police received an emergency call about a 59-year-old Newtown Square man who was struck by lightning during the severe storms on Friday night.

According to Lunn, police received the report at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday that a man had been struck by lightning on the 2300 block of Whitehorse Road in Newtown Square.

The man was conscious and alert when the paramedics arrived, according to Lunn, and was transported to Paoli Hospital for evaluation.

Though police stated the man was transported to Paoli Hospital, Michele Stefan, public relations consultant of Paoli Hospital, stated that the hospital received no patients that were confirmed to have been struck by lightning on Friday.

were unable to confirm if the man was indeed struck by lightning and said that the call appeared to have been a false alarm.
