Man Tries To Pass Fake $100 Bill at Bath & Body Works

A Philadelphia man was arrested for charges of criminal attempt and forgery.

BROOMALL–On June 6 at approximately 7:47 p.m., responded to Carter’s children store at 400 S. State Rd. in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a report of a woman attempting to pass a fake $100 bill.

Upon arrival, police received information about another call from Bath & Body Works in the same shopping center of a man now attempting to pass a counterfeit $100 bill.

Police received confirmation from employees at the Bath & Body Works that Kane was the same man who tried to pass the counterfeit money.

Upon further investigation, police found $112 in the Kane’s front, left pocket which included the $100 bill. Police stated that the bill felt differently and appeared lighter than normal U.S. currency and did not have a hologram, according to the report.

When asked where Kane received the bill, he told he “got the money from some guy.” Employees at Bath & Body Works told police that when they believed the bill to be fake, Kane told the employees that he received the bill from the bank and left his purchase at the register and proceeded to leave the store.
