Marple Police Officers Benecke, Chermak, Lazzari, Rosen Receive Life Saved Award

Several Marple Township police officers were honored with the 2012 awards for outstanding police work recently.

Several Marple Township police officers were honored at a recent township meeting.

Marple Police Chief Tom Murray presented the officers with the 2012 awards for outstanding police work.

Officer Steve Benecke, Officer Chris Chermak, Officer Dan Lazzari and Officer Edward Rosen received the Life Saved Award.

 The award reads as follows:

Please be advised that your name was submitted to the Police Department Honor Board, for consideration for your part in rendering aid and saving a person's life on April 24, 2012.

While on patrol you responded to a medical emergency on Cornell Circle where Officer Chermak utilized the AED from the police car and was performing CPR on a 47-year-old man in cardiac arrest. You immediately went to work assisting Officer Chermak in administering to the patient. The man was then transported to Bryn Mawr Hospital. As a result of your actions the man survived and was able to return to his family.

Therefore, on recommendation of the Board, I take this opportunity to formally commend and congratulate you for your prompt, efficient work and sound judgement in support of the actions described here.

Your actions were within the best traditions of the police service.

Therefore, it is directed that this commendation, become a permanent part of your personnel service record with the Marple Township, Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Police Department.
