How long have you been with the Newtown Police Department?

I've been with the Newtown Township Police Department for 16 years.

What do you like about your job?

I like the freedom of mobility and I really like to feel that my presence will deter crime and keep the residents safe. I also enjoy working with the youth in our community–they are our future!

What do you dislike about your job?

I hate to see tragedies that take loved ones away from their families. Being a first responder we have to step into certain situations and try to bring calm and security to a scene that can be out of control. It's not an easy task, but with experience it gets easier.

What inspired you to become a police officer?

My father inspired me to become a police officer. He was a Newtown Township  police officer for 30 years before retiring. He seemed to always enjoy his career and I always had people telling me how my father was a good police officer. I strive to fill his shoes every day!

What do you like about the Marple Newtown area?

I like the fact that there is a real sense of community here. Because it's a nice town to raise a family, there are many generations of families here. Most people who are raised here don't leave the area–this contributes to the sense of community.

What do you want the general public to know about the Newtown Police Departmet?

We are a dedicated group of 17 individuals who serve our community on a 24/7 basis. Most officers reside in Newtown Township so we have a vested interest in keeping our community safe. Although we constantly patrol the township, we could also use the involvement of the community members to report suspicious activity or crimes in progress. Please don't ever hesitate to call 911, you can even remain anonymous if you wish.
