Men Caught on Tape Stealing $400 in Scrap Metal, Police Say

The thieves are seen on two separate video surveillance cameras, police say.

About $400 in scrap metal was stolen from a plumbing business recently, according to Marple Township Police.

Owners of Banes and Daughters Plumbing on the 2500 block of West Chester Pike in Broomall told police scrap metal was stolen from the property on Dec. 28, according to police.

The theft was caught on video surveillance and the business owners were able to identify one of the thieves, according to police.

Two men are seen on the video arriving on the property at about 4:35 a.m. and at 5 a.m. the camera is covered with a towel, according to police, however a neighbor said he saw the two men load scape metal into a white work van shortly after 5 a.m.

The business owner told police the men then took the scrap metal to Euporpean Scrap and Recycling in Sharon Hill, where the men are also seen on video surveillance, unloading the stolen scrap, according to police.
