"...We need to turn our thoughts to helping our elderly or disabled friends and neighbors," stated Sgt. Chris Lunn in an email. "Each year in the United States, there are hundreds of deaths attributed to excessive natural heat. Many others suffer from heat-related illnesses."

According to Lunn, many of these deaths occur to the elderly because "they are unable or unwilling to properly ventilate their homes during periods of excessive heat."
