Newtown Square Business Burglarized

The burglary was caught on video surveillance, police say.

A Newtown Square business was burglarized recently, police say.

The shop owner and employees arrived at the business on the 3500 block of West Chester Pike at about 8:56 a.m. on June 20 and found a broken front window, according to Newtown Township Police.

The front window out of the main front door was broken and a portion of the upper glass was still intact, according to police.

The shop owner reviewed video surveillance with police that showed a white man had crossed in front of the bay window, bent down just to the side of the front door and then used a small hammer to break the glass, according to police.

Once the glass was broken the man had easy access to the main receptionist portion of the shop, according to police.

The man immediately went to the receptionist work station where a cash drawer was located and took about $100 in cash, according to police.

The investigation is ongoing.
