Next Prelim Hearing Set For Newtown Square Resident Involved in Online Sex Tape

The preliminary hearing for the 20-year-old Newtown Square resident involved in posting a sex tape of himself and his ex-girlfriend has been scheduled for Dec. 1 before Magisterial Judge Leon Hunter.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–Christopher Thomas Scott, 20, of Aronimink Drive in Newtown Square, was charged on six misdemeanor counts of selling, designing and producing obscene materials under the obscene and other sexual materials and performance section of the Pennsylvania Crime Code, as well as harassment, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia — all misdemeanors, as reported in the Delaware County Times.

Scott was arrested Monday, Nov. 14, for secretly posting a sex tape of himself and an ex-girlfriend, while they were dating, on the Internet two years ago. Scott, upset over the breakup with the former girlfriend, acknowledged posting the video during an investigative search of his home, said police.

Upon further investigation, the Delaware County Times also reports Scott revealed a glass bong used for smoking marijuana, a black pouch containing a glass bowl, a glass jar of marijuana, a pill bottle containing marijuana, a metal pipe and metal grinder. A box containing growing materials was also found.

The 24-year-old ex-girlfriend told police she and Scott ended their relationship in February or March 2010. The woman told police she was fired from her job after her former employer discovered the tape online.

The case was heard before Magisterial Judge Leon Hunter of district court #32-2-43 in Newtown Square. Hunter originally set Scott's bail to $25,000 with an option to post 10 percent of his bail in cash on Nov. 14. According to court documents, Hunter changed Scott's bail at $25,000 unsecured—meaning he did not have to post collateral to be freed but would have to post $25,000 if he ever failed to show up for a hearing.
