Numerous Thefts From Vehicles Continue Around Town

According to police, a number of thefts from vehicles have been reports in recent weeks.

In the past several weeks, both and townships have been getting hit with a number of reported incidents involving thefts from vehicles. Both police departments have received numerous calls about thefts from vehicles.

In Marple, from Nov. 19-20 alone, received calls regarding . The vehicles were either broken into or were left unlocked overnight in residents' driveways making them susceptible to thefts. Many of these thefts occurred in the 7th ward of the township, particularly Collins Drive.

From Oct. 30-31, received calls regarding . All the cars were reported left unlocked overnight in residents' driveways. Many of the thefts occured in the Springton Pointe and Larchmont neighborhoods.

More recently, Newtown police received calls of another seven thefts from vehicles parked in residential driveways in the Newtown Green (Roberts Road and Sugar Maple Drive) section of the township.

According to Lt. Chris Lunn of Newtown police, the thefts took place overnight between Tuesday, Nov. 22, and Wednesday Nov. 23. Lunn said that all vehicles that were entered during that time were left unlocked. No vehicles that were locked in the area were reported to be disturbed, according to Lunn.

Some of the items that were reported stolen from the vehicles included: cash, i-Pods, i-Phone 4, and sunglasses. 

Police are urging and reminding residents to lock their vehicles at all times and not to leave any valuables in the car.
