Iron Pipes Stolen From Back of Shop

On Jan. 18 at 9:50 a.m., responded to on 2901 Springfield Road for a reported theft. The owner of the business told police that sometime between Jan. 16 and Jan. 18, someone had taken six to 12 pieces of cast iron pipe from the rear of the shop. The pipe was in lengths from 2 feet to 10 feet, according to the incident report. Police are further investigating this incident.

Car Flips on its Side, Driver Arrested for DUI

On Jan. 17 at 9:29 p.m., police responded to Cedar Grove Road and Kingswood Lane for a reported vehicle crash involving two people. A 24-year-old Springfield woman was driving an Infiniti north on Cedar Grove Road  and had negotiated a curve and lost control of the vehicle which slid off the roadway, according to the incident report. The woman then slid back onto the roadway and across the intersection of Kingswood Lane. According to the report, the vehicle then went up a steep embankment and flipped over on its driver’s side by the 700 block of Cedar Grove Road. The car was towed by Concord Auto Body. The driver was arrested for suspected DUI. Neither the driver or passenger reported any injuries.

Jeep Stolen From Man on Probation

On Jan. 17 just before 10 a.m., a Broomall man came into the police station to report his Jeep Cherokee was stolen. According to the incident report, the man had lent the vehicle to a Kevin Wilson, of Newtown Square, on Sunday with the understanding that it would be returned on that day. But, according to the report, the vehicle had not been returned as of Tuesday and was unable to get in touch with Wilson. According to the incident report, Wilson is currently on probation. Police were able to get in touch with Wilson’s probation officer, who told police Wilson was caught with cocaine and was currently in custody. The owner of the Cherokee told police that he was also missing tools from his shed. He declined to press charges against Wilson.

Fraudulent ATM Charges

On Jan. 17, a woman came into the police station to report a fraudulent ATM withdrawal on her bank account–$200 plus a $1 fee were withdrawn from the woman’s account from an ATM on South Broad Street in Philadelphia on Jan. 15.  According to the report, the woman did not make this withdrawal and the woman told police she discovered two attempts–one for $300 and another for $200–immediately after the successful removal of the $200. A third attempt was made at a First National Bank in Bucks County on Jan. 16. The woman told police her last purchase with the card was at the supermarket in Broomall on Jan. 15 and at the ATM on West Chester Pike in Broomall. Police are further investigating this incident.

Medical Offices Burglarized

On Jan. 16 at 7:25 a.m., police responded to the suite on 2000 South Sproul Road for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police spoke with an office employee, who told police that she discovered an office in the rear of the suite had been ransacked upon entering the reception area. According to the report, a small lock, which contained petty cash, was found on the floor lying open with no cash in it. Inside the office manager’s office, the drawers were open and paper was thrown all over the office, according to the report. A small safe, which also holds petty cash, also appeared to have been pried open and was lying on the floor. A utility closet in the suite that is always locked had been pried open. The pry marks were also observed on the entrance door and door handle of the suite. Police are further investigating this incident.

Theft From Vehicle on St. Paul Drive

On Jan. 15 at 7:12 a.m., police responded to the 2200 block of St. Paul Drive for a reported theft from a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle told police he came out of his home at approximately 6:45 a.m. that morning to find the driver’s side door open from his vehicle. The man discovered the center console access ripped off its hinges. The car was parked on the corner of St. Paul Drive and Rose Hill Road and was left unlocked overnight. A GPS, iPod docking station, a phone charger, some CDs and approximately $20 in change were taken from the console. In addition, the man’s prescription glasses were found crushed on the ground outside the vehicle. Police are further investigating this incident.

Coach Purse and Wallet Stolen

On Jan. 15 at 9:54 a.m., a man came into the police station to report that he and his wife were at the day before and checked out at 6:52 p.m. that day. When they paid their merchandise and walked to their vehicle in the parking lot, they later discovered that the woman’s Coach purse and wallet were stolen. According to the report, they discovered a few credit cards were used at several gas stations–an Exxon in Upper Darby, Sunoco in Landsdowne and BP gas station in Philadelphia. According to the report, bank cards, credit cards, IDs and medical cards were all contained in the wallet.

Office Suite Burglarized

On Jan. 14 at 4:22 p.m., police responded to 2004 South Sproul Road at Suite 204 for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police met with the owner of the maintenance service building who told police he had found the door to the office damaged when he arrived to check on the building around 4:15 p.m. He told police he also observed some white paint on the carpet by the door, which he had cleaned up. In addition, he noticed the interior office lights were on, and when he used his key to the enter the office he discovered the broken lock on the floor inside the office. According to the report, police discovered several drawers had been partially opened as well as a small piece of a saw blade lying on the carpet inside the front door. Police are further investigating this incident.

Theft From Vehicle on 2nd Avenue

On Jan. 14 at 5:49 p.m., police responded to the unit block of 2nd Avenue in Broomall for a reported theft from a vehicle. According to the owner of the vehicle, someone had removed his wallet from under the driver’s seat of his truck that was parked in the driveway overnight. According to police, there appeared to be no damage to the truck. Approximately $300 in cash was inside the wallet as well as credit cards, according to the report. The wallet is valued at approximately $20. Police are further investigating this incident.

Purse Stolen While Shopping

On Jan. 14 at 3:35 p.m., a woman came into the police station to report that her black purse had been stolen from her basket while shopping at on Springfield Road. According to the report, store employees were able to locate the purse behind merchandise several aisles from where the woman lost the bag. The wallet containing cash, credit cards, social security cards, IDs and checks were missing from the bag, reported police. Police are further investigating this incident.

Woman Tries to Pay Items With Fake Checks

On Jan. 13 at 2:22 p.m., police responded to the Walmart for a report of a woman trying to use fraudulent checks to purchase merchandise. According to the store’s security officer, the woman has consistently attempted to use the fraudulent checks on previous occasions. Police were able to stop the woman in the store who had a wallet that contained blank checks, a checkbook and a PA driver’s license, none of which belonged to the woman. The woman was arrested and brought back to police headquarters.

Gift Cards for Church Fundraiser Stolen

On Jan. 13 at 5 p.m., police responded to the unit block of Willowbrook Road for a reported theft discovered. Upon arrival, police met with the homeowner who told police that $925 worth of gift cards were taken from a shoebox inside her storm door. The woman explained the box of gift cards was designated for a fundraiser program through . According to the report, the woman told police the fundraiser box sits between her storm door and front door of her home which is open to the honor system for the fundraiser customers, who will leave their checks in the box and take out an envelope marked for their pickup, containing the gift cards they purchased. The woman told police that she had been doing this fundraiser for nine years and has roughly nine to 10 people who are continued customers. The woman told police that when one of the customers came to do a pickup around noon that afternoon, the cards were still in the box. But when another customer came to do a pickup at 4 p.m., she discovered no cards were in the box. According to the report, the cards in the envelope contained a $500 gift card to Giant; $300 gift card to Superfresh; $25 gift card to ; $50 gift card to ; and a $50 gift card to Dunkin Donuts. Police are further investigating this incident.

Woman Jumps Out of Moving Car

On Jan. 12 at 9:35 p.m., police responded to the intersection of South Media Line Road and South Newtown Street Road/Route 252 for a reported two-vehicle crash involving two people. A 27-year-old woman from Philadelphia was driving a Hyundai Accent heading west on Media Line Road and lost control of her vehicle. The driver told police she opened her door and exited the vehicle while the vehicle was still moving. The vehicle, now operating without a driver, struck the back of a Ford Focus that was stopped at a red traffic light on Rt. 252. The Hyundai Accent hit the Focus and then proceeded to cross Rt. 252 and proceeded to drive through the front yard of before striking a utility pole coming to a rest. The vehicle was towed by Concord Auto Body.

Wallet Taken From Bathroom

On Jan. 12 at 2 p.m., a woman reported that she had left her wallet in the restroom at Walmart the day before at 2:30 p.m. and didn’t realize it missing until later that night at 7:30 p.m. According to the report, the wallet contained no cash but one personal check, several credit cards, a driver’s license, social security card and birth certificate. Walmart reported no wallet was turned in.

Wallet Stolen While Shopping

On Jan. 10 at 4:08 p.m., a woman in a TD Bank parking lot flagged down police who were on patrol of a reported theft. The woman told police that while shopping at in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center around 3 p.m. that day she believed she had left her wallet in her shopping cart but when she went to gather her belongings, her wallet was found missing. The wallet contained her driver’s license, bank card, Medicare card, and various other cards. Approximately $25 in cash was also inside the wallet.

Theft From Vehicle at AMC 10 Parking Lot

On Jan. 7 at 10:16 p.m., police received a reported theft from a vehicle at the parking lot in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center that occurred between 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. According to the report, the woman stated her vehicle was parked on the left side of the building and was locked. When she returned to her vehicle, she told police she discovered the inside dome light was on. She further stated that her wallet was on the dashboard, which had been placed in the glove box, according to the report. She told police her debit card was taken but nothing else. She told police no signs of forced entry were observed. Police are further investigating this incident.

Man Steals Nook E-Reader From Display

On Jan. 6 at 6:04 p.m., police responded to the in the Lawrence Park Shopping Center for a reported retail theft. Upon arrival, police spoke to the manager who stated that a thin, white male wearing a light-colored jacket and large white headphones took a Nook E-Reader and left the store without paying. The manager showed police where the Nook was ripped from the security strap. The Nook is valued at $249. While checking the area, police discovered the man walking on the 20 block of South Sproul Road. When police patted the man down, police discovered the Nook that was taken from the bookstore. The man was placed in custody and returned to police headquarters.
