Police Blotter: 9 Thefts From Cars, 1 Theft From Home

Plastic Utensils Pitched Into Resident's Lawn

On July 6 at 10:17 p.m., a resident on 1st Avenue in Broomall called to report about several dozen plastic utensils into the lawn of his house. According to the incident report, the man told that this has happened before and was previously investigated by Marple police, who had previously identified the actors. While taking this report, the resident’s daughters told police that there was a group on Radcliffe Road that were laughing. According to the report, the residents suspected that the group was involved but no one saw anything. Police went over to speak to the group and the resident at the home there said they have been at her home all night and did not see anything. No physical damage was caused to the lawn by the utensils which were removed by the homeowners, police said. Police are further investigating this incident.

$600 Taken From Woman's Car, Man Loses Wallet With $375 at AMC Theaters

On July 6 at 5:53 p.m., a woman came to the Marple Police Station to report a theft from her vehicle on Monday night, July 4, at the AMC 10 movie theaters in the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center at 400 South State Road in Springfield. According to police, the woman said her car was unlocked sometime between 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. A black satchel-type purse, valued at $300, a pink wallet containing $600 in cash, several credit cards, a medical card, a driver’s license and a check were all taken from the vehicle. Police are further investigating this incident.

On July 6 at 1:37 a.m., police responded to AMC 10 movie theaters at the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a lost wallet. Upon arrival, the man told police he was unsure if the wallet was lost or stolen but it was in his shorts’ pocket at the start of the movie, according to the incident report. The man checked with the staff who advised him it had not been turned in. The man and staff then checked the entire theater for it after all the lights were turned on, said police. The man said the wallet contained about $375 in cash and two bank credit cards, a driver’s license and a medical card. Police are further investigating this incident.

Jewelry Stolen From Home on Bourne Drive

On July 6 at approximately 1:40 p.m., police responded to a home on Bourne Drive for a reported theft of jewelry stolen. Upon arrival, police spoke to the homeowners who reported that on June 8, they had the carpet installed in several rooms. On June 11, the residents discovered a lime-colored marble jewelry box had been removed from a dresser drawer in the master bedroom. According to police, the box contained two watches­–a Gucci watch valued at $300 and a less expensive watch, possibly a Timex, valued at $20. According to police, the homeowner had placed the jewelry box in the drawer on top of the dresser when she knew the carpet installers were coming. A black, small jewelry box containing a 14-carat yellow gold diamond ring with 19 round diamonds and a total weight of 2.28 carats was also stolen. The resident called the owner of the carpet company who advised them to contact the police. The company was Roman Furniture of Clifton Heights. Police are further investigating this incident.

CD Player, iPods, 200 CDs Stolen From Woman's Car While at a House Party

On July 6 at 12:12 p.m., a woman came to the police station to report items were stolen from inside her vehicle sometime overnight. The woman had the car parked on the street near her friend's home on Old Cedar Grove Road and was at the house for a party around 11 p.m. on July 5. When she came out to the car at 5 a.m. on July 6, according to the report, she discovered items were missing from her car. The items stolen from her dashboard were a Pioneer CD player, two iPods, and about 200 CDs. No damage was reported from inside of the car. Police are further investigating this incident.

$400 GPS Stolen From Minivan in Front of Home on Harmil Road

On July 5 just before 7 p.m., police responded to a home on Harmil Road for a reported theft from a resident's vehicle. The resident told police that some time overnight, his unlocked minivan was entered. A Garmin GPS was removed from the vehicle, which was valued at $399.99, according to the incident report. Police said the man did not hear or see anything during the night. Police are further investigating this incident.

Oakwynne Road Neighborhood Sees String of Thefts From Vehicles

On July 3 at approximately 8 a.m., police responded to Oakwynne Road for a reported theft from a vehicle. The resident told police that some time overnight, someone had entered his Dodge truck and removed the contents out of the glove compartment. In addition, a Nikon Coolpix 270 digital camera was taken from the vehicle, according to the incident report. The truck was unlocked and parked in the driveway. Police are further investigating this incident.

On July 3 at 8:10 a.m., police responded to another home on Oakwynne Road for a reported theft from two vehicles some time overnight. The resident told police his Chevy Tracker was parked in his driveway unlocked. According to incident report, the resident believes only coins was removed and could not identify any other items stolen from his vehicle. The glove compartments and console were opened and the contents were thrown on the vehicle's floor, said police. Police are further investigating this incident.

On July 3 at 8:20 a.m., police responded to yet another home on Oakwynne Road for a reported theft from two vehicles some time over night. The resident's two vehicles–a Toyota Camry and a Ford–had items removed from their glove compartments, said police. A Garmin GPS was removed from the Toyota. The woman told police she returned home around 2:30 a.m. that morning and parked her vehicle in the driveway. Police are further investigating this incident.

On July 3 at 11:42 a.m., another resident on Oakwynne Road also reported that some time overnight someone had entered the resident’s two vehicles, in which one was parked in the driveway and another one on the street. According to police, the items taken were two Tom Tom GPS units, two iPods, and three sunglasses. Police said both vehicles were unlocked. The contents of the glove compartment were thrown on the floor of each vehicle. Police are further investigating this incident.

Beechtree Road Neighbors Report Thefts From Vehicles

On July 3 at 7:12 a.m., police responded to Beechtree Road for a reported theft from a vehicle. The resident told police he was awake until about 1 a.m. and told police he had heard what he thought were voices outside of his house but did not see anyone. That morning when his son left for work, his son noticed his car was entered into, according to the incident report. Inside his son’s car was his wallet with $150 in cash missing. The father’s vehicle was also entered into and an MP3 player was missing inside a black arm band case which was valued at approximately $80. Police said the resident's wife’s vehicle was also entered into but it did not appear that anything was missing. Both vehicles in the driveway had the contents of the center console and glove compartments left on the passenger seats of each vehicle, said police. None of the vehicles parked in the driveway were locked. Police are further investigating this incident.

On July 3 at 10:12 a.m., another resident on Beechtree Drive reported that some time overnight someone had entered his 2009 Toyota which was parked on the street in front of the home and an iPod and $200 was taken from the vehicle. According to police, the actor(s) had apparently left behind a Dell laptop and cell phones. Police said the laptop was moved and opened, which police took for forensic examination. The vehicle was apparently unlocked overnight. Police are further investigating this incident.

Woman Loses Engagement Ring Walking to School

On July 5, police responded to South Media Line Road for report of a lost jewelry item. The woman told police that at some point that morning, she lost her engagement ring. According to the incident report, the ring is a white gold, 0.8-carat round diamond ring. The woman told police she remembered seeing it on her hand on the way to school but when she got to class, she realized it was gone. She retraced her steps several times, said police, but was unable to locate the ring. She also told police there may be a band-aid attached to the ring, which she wore to make the ring fit more snug as the ring was a bit loose on her finger. Police are further investigating this incident.
