Police Blotter: Burglary Reports, Thefts From Cars, DUI Arrests

Man Threatens to Kill Ex-Girlfriend's Boyfriend

On Jan. 10 at approximately 1:24 p.m., responded to the unit block of Northwood Road in Newtown Square for harassment by communication complaint. Police met with a 26-year-old man from Ardmore and his ex-girlfriend of Newtown Square, parents of their infant daughter. The ex-girlfriend told police that she had called the man earlier that day to make arrangements to have him pick up their daughter later that day. The ex-girlfriend did not make contact with the father and a short time later the man had allegedly called the victim 33 tmes with a two-hour period. During these calls, the man had allegedly threatened to assault the former girlfriend and to kill her boyfriend as well as damage her home. After being told that the police were being called, the man had allegedly stated threatening profanities if she called the police. The man was arrested and charged for terroristic threats with intent to terrorize another and harassment–commonly repeated in another manner.

Two Unlocked Vehicles Broken Into

On Jan. 9 at 4:18 p.m., police responded to 3200 block of Hilltop Road for a reported a vehicle broken into. Upon arrival, police met the owner at his home and told police ha had last seen his vehicle and his wife’s vehicle intact at around 10:30 p.m. When he went outside at approximately 4 a.m. to retrieve some firewood he noticed the interior light was on in his vehicle. When he went to investigate, he discovered the door ajar, according to the incident report. Upon looking inside, he found the vehicle’s contents had been rifled through and also observed his wife’s car had also been entered, according to the incident report. Both vehicles were unlocked, while their daughter’s was locked overnight had been untouched. Nothing was reported missing at the time.

Woman Does Doughnuts in Parking Lot, Arrested for DUI

On Jan. 5 at around 6:27 p.m., police responded to the parking lot of 10 Campus Blvd. in the Newtown Square Corporate Campus for a report of a red Volkswagon Beetle driving around in circles in the parking lot. The car was reported to be operating with a flat tire and was circling the lot. Upon arrival, the car initially did not stop when police pulled up behind the car. Police approached the driver, Ann Kyne, 48, of Newtown Square, and detected an odor of an alcohol beverage emanating from her. When asked how much she had to drink, she responded, “too much,” according to the incident report. A breathalyzer test was conducted, in which her blood alcohol content was recorded at 0.22 percent. Kyne was arrested and charged with DUI, careless driving and recklessly endangering another person.

Two Men Allegedly Snort Percocets

On Jan. 4 at approximately 12:05 a.m., police observed a white truck stopped at Summit Ave. and Chestnut St. and running with its lights on, according to the incident report. Police observed a man with a flashlight outside the open passenger-side door of the truck and appeared to be looking around the rear of a vehicle parked in a driveway. Police approached the man, Anthony Bonifacino, 24, of Kennett Square, and asked what the man was doing. Bonifacino told police that he had dropped something and was looking for it. According to the incident report, police observed another man, Sean Stewart, 25, of West Chester, in the driver’s seat of the truck and in the center console in plain view, two small straws commonly used for snorting narcotics. According to the incident report, police also discovered a thin piece of plastic with a white powdery residue on the top of it. In addition, a small piece of metal that also had a white powdery residue on it, along with an American Express gift card had a white residue on its edge as well as a small blue and black cylinder. Upon further investigation, police found three small blue pills and a half of a yellow pill inside the cylinder. Upon further investigation, police located a small red cylinder with a lid in Stewart’s pant’s pocket. When asked what the object was, Stewart replied, “It’s drugs. My friend gave it to me,” according to the incident report. When asked if there was any cocaine in the truck, Bonifacino stated, “no,” according to the report, but said that the two were snorting Percocets. Police also located a razor blade wrapped up in paper along with $782 and a tally sheet inside Bonifacino’s wallet. Bonifacino was arrested and charged for three counts of prohibited acts or penalties. Stewart was arrested and charged for DUI, two counts of prohibited acts or penalties, drivers required to be licensed and operation of vehicle without an official certificate.

Two Laptops Stolen Inside Home 

On Jan. 3 at 7:05 p.m., police responded to the unit block of Sleepy Hollow Drive for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police spoke with the complainant who told police she was house sitting for relatives. The woman told police she was using her silver HP laptop while watching TV in the family room and went to bed around 10 p.m., leaving her laptop plugged in on the coffee table in the living room. She left for work the next morning and returned home at around 6:30 p.m. and immediately noticed her laptop was missing as well as her aunt’s laptop. She told police that she remembered when she left for work that morning her coat was not on the kitchen chair where she left it and found it in the home office. Police observed that nothing appeared to be disturbed and no sign of forced entry was discovered. The two laptops were estimated to be approximately $800 each. Police are further investigating this incident.

$400 Sunglasses, Personal Checkbook Taken From Car

On Jan. 3 at 10:35 a.m., police responded to the unit block of Springton Pointe Drive for a reported theft from a vehicle. Sometime overnight, the homeowner’s unlocked vehicle was entered. According to police, taken from the vehicle were a pair of sunglasses in a black case valued at approximately $400 and a checkbook with their names was missing. Police are further investigating this incident.

NELL Building Broken Into

On Jan. 3 at 6 p.m., a resident reported a criminal mischief incident at the fields on Bishop Hollow Road. According to the resident, he found the door open and a piece of electrical equipment on the ground outside the building. Upon investigation, police observed there was no sign of force entry to the door. Once inside the building, police observed there was a corkboard with burn marks on it and a “no smoking” sign that had been partially burned. According to police, it appeared someone had thrown a power mixer out the window as it was still lying on the ground. In addition, police discovered the lock was broken off of the garage door below the building. 

Burglary Reported at St. Albans Church

On Jan. 2 at 1:55 p.m., police responded to for a burglary reported. Upon arrival, police met with the accountant of the church, who told police that approximately 30 minutes prior, he discovered the east side entrance double door had been damaged. Upon further investigation, police observed that someone had pulled the door out toward them, causing the door to pull from the upper anchor point which allowed access to the interior of the church. An interior office door was also forced open, with most likely some type of prying device said police, and entry was made inside the office. Some damage to the west side door to the consignment shop was also discovered, which may be unrelated to the burglary, said police.

Police Make DUI Arrest on Goshen and Crum Creek Roads

On Dec. 31 at approximately 3:45 a.m., police was traveling west on 3700 block of Goshen Road. Police observed a Mazda swerving right, passing over the fog line into the grassy area to the right of the roadway, according to the incident report. According to police, the vehicle recovered and started drifting left and crossed over the center divided line while approaching the bend in the 3800 block of Goshen Road. Police said as the vehicle traveled westbound around the bend, the vehicle was more than halfway in the eastbound lane and crossed back over into the westbound lane but continued drifting right crossing over the fog line to the point that both right tires were on the edge of the elvated roadway and were about to leave the roadway. Police were able to pull the vehicle over on Goshen and Crum Creek roads. Once pulled over, police spoke with the driver, Shauna Kane, 31, of West Chester, who appeared to have a strong odor of alcohol emanating from her, according tot he incident report. Kane admitted to having “just a few” alcoholic beverages. Police conducted a couple of sobriety tests, in which she both failed. When asked to conduct a field sobriety test, police observed Kane unsteady on her feet and had lost her balance. A breathalyzer test was conducted and Kane’s alcohol blood content level was recorded at 0.228 percent. Kane was arrested and charged for DUI and driving on roadways laned for traffic.
