Police Blotter: Burglary, Theft, and Fire

Marple police gave Patch the following incident reports on May 27.

Police saythat on May 16 at 8:08 p.m., they received a report of a burglary on Pleasant Road in Broomall.

According to police, the resident arrived home from work to find rear door and side windows of their home opened, with damage to the window screen. Her bedroom drawers were open, and her wedding ring and another diamond ring were missing. Additional jewelry and several new televisions were not stolen from the home.

Police say there were reports of a solicitor in the area 15 minutes prior to the resident's arrival home, but reported no other leads.

Burglary

Police received a report on May 18 at 10:10 am of a burglary on the 2000 block of Springhouse Road in Broomall.

According to police, the owner of the home found his rear basement door ajar with the glass from the door broken out. Nothing had been disturbed in the house, which is currently vacant.

Burglary

Police say that on May 16 at 5:47 p.m., they received a report of a burglary on N. Manor Road in Broomall.

According to police, when the resident arrived home at 5:05 p.m., he noticed that a rear window of his bedroom was forced open and drawers in the room had been opened. After speaking with his wife, the resident ascertained that he had left the window open and that that was the point of entry.

Police say numerous pieces of jewelry were stolen, and that a subsequent neighborhood canvass provided no leads.

Theft

Police received a report of a theft from Bancroft NeuroHealth, in Broomall, on May 14 at 1:31 p.m.

According to police, $253 was stolen from the lock box of the group home in a building known as the "Walker House." The $253 was in an envelope and belonged to a resident.

Police say the home periodically changes the location of the lock box to reduce the likelihood of such a theft.

Theft

According to police, there was a theft from a parked car on May 11 at Delaware County Community College's 900 South Media Line Road campus

Police say that that afternoon, a Delco student left his car to take a final and when he returned saw two white males leaving his car. "My bad, wrong car," they explained as they walked past him.

Missing from the vehicle was an envelope containing $400 that was taken from his center console, as well as two PlayStation 3 games.

Theft

Police say that there was an arrest for shoplifting at the TJ Maxx on the 1900 block of Sproul Road on May 19 at 9:19 p.m.

According to police, a TJ Maxx loss prevention associate noticed a man later identified as Tiablo Autry concealing sunglasses in his pants. Autry then took the merchandise to his car, before coming back into the store and putting more sunglasses in his pants.

The employee called the police, and on arrival officers took Autry into custody inside the store. Autry admitted to the crimes, and led police to his car where they found a TJ Maxx bag with seven pairs of sunglasses in them as well as a Marshall's bag filled with boxes of cologne, perfume, and more sunglasses.

Autry was charged with misdemeanor retail theft.

Fire

According to police, on May 8 at 3:50 p.m. there was a fire on 300 block of South Parkway Boulevard in Broomall.

Police say there was heavy smoke on the third floor that originated from a small kitchen fire. According to police, a woman was in the apartment cooking dinner when one of her grandchildren yelled "fire" and they cleared out of the building. Before emergency personnel arrived, a neighbor used a fire extinguisher to fight the flames.
