Police Blotter: Jewelry Stolen From Home, Salon and Offices Burglarized, Numerous Thefts From Vehicles

Salon Burglarized, Cash Stolen

On Nov. 22 at 6:34 a.m., received a report of a suspicious incident. According to police, the front door of Salon Bellisima had been smashed out. Police said they entered the shop and observed that the reception desk had been rifled through and the drawer of the cash register was lying on the floor. At approximately 7:05 a.m., the store owner arrived to the scene and confirmed that nothing other than the cash register/reception area had been tampered with. The owner told police the store had been closed since Saturday evening and estimated at least $1,000 was left in the drawer. Police are further investigating this incident.

Orthopedic Office Burglarized

On Nov. 22, police responded to 2004 S. Sproul Road at in Suite 102 for a reported burglary. Upon arrival, police said they spoke to the manager who told police that they discovered their receipts (cash, checks and credit card payments) from Nov. 18 were missing from the office. According to police, the surveillance camera showed that the burglary occurred on Nov. 19 at 12:22 p.m. Police said the actor in the video apperead to be a large male, possibly with a goatee, glasses and wearing some type of cloth on his head. According to police, a scratch mark was noticed in the wood on the front office door where the actor entered and a pry mark on the jamb of the left cabinet door indicating that it may have been forced open using an object to pry the door. Police are further investigating this incident.

Thousands Worth of Jewelry Stolen From Home

On Nov. 22, a resident on the 300 block of Rose Lane reported a burglary from her home. The homeowner told police that she had last worn one of the stolen pieces of jewelry on Nov. 12 and had left it out on her dresser knowing that she would wearing it again on Nov. 16. The woman told police she had a painting contractor in her home to do work on Nov. 14 and Nov. 15. The painting work did not include the master bedroom, said police, but the woman told police they had discovered white paint on one of the chairs in their bedroom. The homeowners had asked the contractor about the missing piece of jewelry, in which he told them he didn’t know anything about the jewelry. The missing jewelry included a platinum silver engagement ring valued at $8,000; a platinum silver ring valued at $1,000; an emerald, gold diamond ring valued at $500; a 14K gold dome ring valued at $1,500; and a watch with diamonds valued at $150. Police are further investigating this incident.

Woman Steals $1,000 Worth of Items, Police Discover Cocaine in Purse

On Nov. 22 at 8:34 p.m., police responded to on 400 S. State Road for a reported shoplifting incident. Upon arrival, police spoke with the store officer who told police she observed a woman walking around the inside of the store for approximately eight hours taking items off of the shelf and placing them into her cart. The officer stated that after the woman had filled her cart with miscellaneous merchandise, she began pulling tags off of the items and placing them into Walmart shopping bags in her cart. The woman eventually walked past the cash registers in the store without attempting to pay for the items. The store officer apprehended the woman in the front lobby of the store and told police the total value of items stolen were valued at $1,072.24. Upon apprehension, police also discovered a red, glacine sandwich bag containing a white powdery substance in the woman’s purse, in which the woman told police was cocaine. Police also discovered two green pills in her purse as well, in which she told police she was not sure what they were. The woman was arrested and charged.

Coach Wallet, Purse and Cash Stolen From Vehicle Parked at AMC 10

On Nov. 18 at 2:19 a.m., police responded to the theatres on 400 S. State Road for a reported theft from a vehicle. Upon arrival, police spoke to the owner of the vehicle, who told police that sometime between 11:45 p.m. and 2:15 a.m., someone had broken out the rear passenger side window of her Lincoln MKX and had stolen her purse from the vehicle. The woman told police that the bag taken from her vehicle was a black leather Coach purse valued at approximately $400. Inside the purse, a brown Coach wallet as well as a bank card, a credit card, her driver’s license, a social security card and her work ID were also stolen. In addition, approximately $100 in cash were also stolen. Police are further investigating this incident.

Cell Phone Stolen From Women's Restroom

On Nov. 18 at 11:16 a.m., police responded to the parking lot of for a reported stolen cell phone. Police met with the owner of the cell phone who told police that she had left her Droid phone in the women's restrooms around 9 a.m. that day and when she went back for it, it was gone. The phone is valued at approximately $450. Police are further investigating this incident.

Vehicles Broken Into, Numerous Thefts Reported

On Nov. 19 at 7:09 a.m., police were informed of a reported theft from a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle told police that sometime overnight his Toyota Tundra was entered. The truck was parked in the driveway of his home on Remington Road and was left unlocked. A Magellan Mistro 5310 GPS and charger were taken from the car. The GPS was valued at approximately $250.

On Nov. 19 at 9 a.m., police were informed of a reported theft from a vehicle to the 500 block of Collins Drive. The owner of the vehicle reported that sometime overnight someone had broken into the front passenger side window of his vehicle and his Tom Tom GPS was taken. His vehicle was parked in his driveway overnight. The GPS was valued at approximately $150.

On Nov. 19 at 9:13 a.m., police responded to the 500 block of Collins Drive for a reported theft from a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle told police someone had entered into her vehicle sometime overnight and had stolen $35 in cash and two credit cards. The owner of the vehicle told police that the vehicle was unlocked and parked in the driveway overnight.

On Nov. 19 at 9:15 a.m., police responded to the 100 block of Martin’s Run for a reported theft from a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle informed police that sometime overnight his Toyota Camry was broken into and his 2006 Magellan GPS unit was taken from the center console of the vehicle. The vehicle was left unlocked and parked in the driveway. The owner of the vehicle told police his other vehicle was also entered into but nothing was taken. The GPS was valued at approximately $389.

On Nov. 19 at 9:49 a.m., police were informed of a vandalism of a car incident. According to the owner of the vehicle, her Mercedes Benz R350 was parked in the driveway and the rear window of the vehicle was  shattered and in the back of the vehicle was a large piece of broken concrete. The woman stated she heard something around 6 a.m. that woke  her up. When she looked outside and did not see anything, she told police she went back to sleep and only discovered the broken glass later that morning. Police are further investigating this incident.

On Nov. 19, police responded to the 2200 block of Glen Spring Lane for a reported theft from a vehicle. Police met with the owner of the vehicle, who told police a black leather bag was taken from inside his Chevy work van that was parked in his driveway. The contents of the leather bag included an HP laptop computer, a Nikon Coolpix camera, passports, a driver’s license and a business check book as well as numerous business licenses and a satellite meter. Police are further investigating this incident.

On Nov. 19, police responded to the 500 block of Collins Drive for a reported theft from a vehicle. The owner of the vehicle told police that his vehicle was parked in his drivewa overnight and sometime during the night someone had broken out the front passentger window and had stolen a GPS. The GPS was valued at approximately $100.

On Nov. 20 at 10:56 a.m., a woman from the 200 block of Talbot Drive reported a theft from a vehicle that occurred sometime over the weekend. The woman told police the vehicle was parked in the driveway at her home all weekend. The woman told police that she left her wallet in the glove compartment of her vehicle and believe it was unlocked. On the morning of Nov. 20, the woman told police she noticed the glove compartment was left open and her wallet was missing that morning. In the wallet, four credit cards, a driver’s license, a social security card and $20 in cash were also stolen. Police are further investigating this incident.

Woman Steals 9 Bottles of Perfume, Cologne

On Nov. 19 at 5:37 p.m., police responded to the Bath and Body Works at 400 S. State Road at the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a reported theft. An employee at the store told police that a woman stolen nine bottles of women’s perfume and five bottles of mens cologne. The woman placed all of the bottles of perfume and cologne into a store bag as if she were to purchase the items. The employee states that it was busy in the store at the time when she last saw the woman near the front door of the store. When the employee turned away briefly and looked back up, the employee noticed that the woman had left the store with the colognes and the store bag. The total value of the stolen merchandise was valued at $442.50. Police are further investigating this incident.

Two Juveniles Steal Condoms, Videogames, DVDs From Walmart

On Nov. 20 at 2:40 p.m., police responded to the Walmart on 400 S. State Road at the Marple Crossroads Shopping Center for a reported retail theft and two juveniles in custody. Upon arrival, police met with the store officer who had detained two young males for stealing numerous items of merchandise. The store officer told police she observed the two young males conceal numerous items in their sweatshirts. The items included a Multi-Tool, condoms, videogames, and DVDs. Both young males had concealed the merchandise and passed all points of sale without paying for the merchandise, according to the incdent report. The two boys were identified as a 13-year-old and 12-year-old. The total value of  items were stolen was $275.93. Both parents were called to the Walmart. Both were processed at Marple police headquarters and released to their parents.

Woman Steals 6 Bottles of Perfume, Black Tights From TJ Maxx

On Nov. 21 at approximately 4:48 p.m., police responded to the at Lawrence Park Shopping Center for a reported retail theft. Upon arrival, the store officer told police that’s she had seen a woman conceal perfume and black tights in her purse. According to police, the woman then passed all points of sale and exited the store without paying for the merchandise. The store officer stopped the woman in the parking lot and had her return to the store. Police discovered six bottles of perfume and two pairs of black tights. The total value of merchandise was valued at $163.92.
