Police Blotter: Criminal Mischiefs, Thefts, Domestic Assaults, Public Drunkenness, DUI

Son Allegedly Hits Dad in Face

On April 10 at approximately 6:46 a.m., responded to the 300 block of 2nd Avenue for a domestic assault incident. According to the report, a son and father had a disagreement over the use of the family car. The sister told police that the son was "out of control" and confirmed he had hit the father in the face during the argument. The 20-year-old son was arrested and charged for harassment and simple assault.

Car Window Shattered, Nothing Stolen

On April 10 at approximately 11:30 a.m., police responded to the 3200 block of Hilltop Road for a reported criminal mischief incident. Upon arrival, police spoke with the homeowner who stated that she had parked her vehicle in the driveway on April 8 around 10:45 p.m. and on April 10 at approximately 11:30 a.m., she discovered the rear passenger door window had been shattered. The owner confirmed nothing was stolen or disturbed on the inside of the vehicle. She also confirmed her doors were locked when she discovered the damage, according to the report. Police are further investigating this incident.

2 Soccer Nets Stolen From High School

On April 9 at approximately 11:26 a.m., police responded to for a reported theft. Police responded to the rear of the high school by the baseball field and met with the grounds keeper who told police that sometime between April 4 and April 9, someone had removed two aluminum soccer nets that were chained to the fence separating the Dunwoody property and the high school baseball field. The nets were 4-inch tubular aluminum, 12-feet high and 24-feet wide, according to the report. The total value of the two nets is approximately $1,000.

Homeless Man Cited For Public Drunkenness

On April 7 at approximately 1:10 p.m., police responded to the on Clyde Lane for a reported public drunken man. Upon arrival, police discovered a 37-year-old homeless man sitting in a chair swaying slightly from side to side, according to the incident report. When police asked the man a few questions, the man was unable to fully complete a sentence, according tot he report. Police preformed a portable breathalyzer test on the man in which a 0.289 percent blood alcohol content was recorded.

Plastic Forks Planted Onto Front Yard

On April 1 at approximately 10:49 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Munger Road in the Valley View Acres development for a reported criminal mischief incident. Upon arrival, police spoke with the homeowner who stated that the family had left the home at approximately 5:30 p.m. that day and returned at 7:45 p.m. to discover several plastic forks stuck in their front yard. According to the report, no further information was available on the incident and no description of the possible offenders.

Home on First Avenue Egged

On March 31 at approximately 11:46 p.m., police responded to the 400 block of 1st Avenue in the Larchmont Square neighborhood of the township for a reported criminal mischief incident. Upon arrival, police met with the homeowners who pointed out that the driveway of their home had been hit with several eggs, according to the report. The homeowners told police they were unaware of who may have vandalized their home.

Wheel Barrel Stolen From Home

On March 30 at approximately 1:35 p.m., police responded to the 100 block of Mulberry Lane in the Valley View Acres development for a reported theft of a wheel barrel. The homeowner told police that on March 1 in the early morning hours, he had placed the wheel barrel full of recyclables to the curb for pick-up. The owner states that when he went back to the curb sometime later to retrieve the wheel barrel, it was gone. The total value of the wheel barrel is approximately $30.

Father-in-Law Allegedly Chokes Daughter

On March 30 at approximately 4:18 p.m., police responded to the 600 block of Golf Club Lane for a reported domestic assault incident. Police met with the homeowner who told police that her 83-year-old father-in-law had allegedly choked her, according to the report. According to the incident report, the woman told police the father-in-law had additionally thrown several of her children's toys at her from the above-garage apartment of the home. The man was arrested and charged for simple assault and harassment.

2 Cited For Underage Drinking in Parking Lot

On March 29 at approximately 8:21 p.m., police responded to the parking lot of the Shoppes at Springton Pointe, on the 200 block of S. Newtown Street Road/Rt. 252 for a reported underage liquor consumption incident. According to the report, a Newtown officer was on foot patrol in the parking lot of the Shoppes at Springton Pointe when the officer observed a silver vehicle occupied by three people. When they saw the officer approaching the vehicle, the three teenagers reached under and behind the driver’s seat to hide something, according to the report. When asked if they was anything inside the vehicle that police should be concerned with, specifically alcoholic beverages, narcotics or weapons, one of the occupants, a 20-year-old from Drexel Hill told police that there was alcohol in the vehicle. Police observed in plain view a can of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, an empty bottle of Jaquin’s Vodka and a partially consumed bottle of Heaven Hill Bourbon. Police administered a portable breathalyzer test on the man, which registered a 0.02 percent blood alcohol content and another 20-year-old occupant from Drexel Hill, which registered a 0.146 percent blood alcohol content level. Upon further search of the vehicle, police discovered a smoking pope in the center console which had suspected marijuana residue in it, according tot he report. The trunk of the car also revealed several empty bottles of other alcoholic beverages. Both men were cited for underage drinking.
