Police Blotter: More Thefts From Vehicles, Copper Thefts, Burglaries In Newtown

Home Burglarized While Victim Hides In Bathroom

On Nov. 7, at 6:26 a.m., police responded to a call on the 100 block of Masons Way for a burglary in progress. According to the police report, the victim woke up when her alarm went off at 5:40 a.m., and then heard strange noises in the house and two men's voices. One of the men said "I thought no one was here," the victim told police. The victim hid in the bathroom and called her brother, who contacted police. Two cars in the garage were sorted through, along with kitchen drawers and file boxes of the victim's fiancé, according to the police report.

Laptops Stolen

On Nov. 8, an employee of Medstaff on West Chester Pike told police that two laptops were missing from the business.

$2,000 In Copper Stolen

An estimated $2,000 in copper rolls, downspouts and gutters were reported missing from a home on the 3400 block of Sawmill Road in Newtown on the morning of Nov. 10.  On Nov. 21, the victim contacted police again, after discovering another $500 in scrap copper missing, according to the police report.

Unknown Retail Theft

On Nov. 13 at 8 p.m., an employee at the CVS at 3930 West Chester Pike reported a retail theft to police. A white female with brown hair had been crouching in the cosmetic aisle, and then left without approaching the counter to pay, at which point the front door alarm activated, according to the police report. The employee did not know what the woman had taken.

Public Drunkenness at Golf Club

On Nov. 17 at 11:03, police responded to a report of alcohol overdose at the Aronimink Golf Club on St. Davids Road. Police said they found a white male laying facedown on the lawn across from the pool, incoherent, with his pants partially down. The 29-year-old Malvern man was transported to Paoli Hospital for evaluation.

 

Multiple Thefts From Unlocked Vehicles

A number of thefts were reported to police from unlocked vehicles on Sugar Maple Drive and Roberts Road the morning of Nov. 23.

  • iPod Stolen: The victim went to his vehicle, parked on the unit block of Sugar Maple Drive, at 7 a.m. on Nov. 23 and found spare change and $10 in cash missing. After inspecting the two other vehicles in the driveway, the victim found that one of them was missing an iPod. All the vehicles had been left unlocked.
  • Loose Change Stolen: At 7:45 a.m. on Nov. 23, a victim on the unit block of Roberts Road reported to police that $5 in spare change had been removed from the unlocked vehicle.
  • Loose Change Stolen: On Nov. 23 at 8:20 a.m., a homeowner on the unit block of Sugar Maple Drive told police that two vehicles had been entered overnight and about $5 in change were stolen from each. Both vehicles were left unlocked.
  • Loose Change Stolen: On Nov. 23 at 8:31 a.m., a homeowner on Roberts Road told police that his car had been broken into and about $5 in change had been stolen.
  • iPhone Stolen: A homeowner on Roberts Road told police at 8:45 a.m. on Nov. 23 that two unlocked vehicles had been entered overnight, and an iPhone 4 with a pink cover had been stolen.
  • Sunglasses Stolen: At 9 a.m. on Nov. 23, a homeowner on Roberts Road told police that his car had been entered overnight. Later, the victim's wife told police that a pair of Rayband sunglasses were stolen, which she estimated to be worth $300.

 

Mailbox Destroyed

On Nov. 23 at 10:05 p.m., homeowners on the unit block of Sugar Maple Drive reported a case of criminal mischief to police. The victims found their black mailbox laying on the ground broken. The victim estimated the cost at $300.

 

Rock Smashed Through Window

On Nov. 26 at 1:42 a.m., a resident reported to police that he and his wife had been sleeping when they were awoken by a loud smash. They found the rear glass window of their den smashed and a rock inside the home.

 

Ex-Boyfriend Punches Through Woman's Rear Window

On Dec. 1 at 6:51 a.m., police responded to a domestic disturbance on the unit block of Springton Pointe Drive. The victim told police that around 6:15 a.m., she and her ex-boyfriend engaged in a verbal argument, and as the victim was leaving, her ex-boyfriend threw apples at her vehicle. The victim later returned to the home to get her purse, at which point her ex met her at the vehicle and the victim threw the remaining apple slices at him. The victim's ex then punched out the rear window of her car, shattering glass all over the back seat.
