Police Blotter: Student Caught With Marijuana on School Property, Fake Drug Prescriptions, DUIs

Windows of Vehicles Smashed Around Town

On Nov. 4 at aprxomately 12:38 a.m., reported a gray van parked on Berman Street with the driver’s side window smashed out. According to police, entry into the vehicle was not gained and the actor(s) appeared to be driving past vehicles and smashing the windows out of the vehicles in the area. . Police are further investigating this incident.

At approximately 12:40 a.m., police were on patrol checking for vehicles with broken windows and located a vehicle in the 500 block of Third Avenue with a broken window. The passenger-side window had been smashed, said police. The owner of the vehicle later told police that someone had gone through her backpack, which was in the front passenger seat and took miscellaneous papers and a tube of lip gloss. Police are further investigating this incident.

Student Caught With Marijuana on School Property

On Nov. 4 at approximately 9:45 a.m., police responded to to meet with the assistant principal in regards to a student suspected of possessing marijuana on school property. Police met with the assistant principal, principal and the suspected student. After receiving information that the student may have been storing marijuana in his vehicle on school grounds, the high school's assistant principal told him that they were going to conduct a search of the vehicle for any marijuana and/or other controlled substances. During a search of the vehicle, both the school officials located several amounts of marijuana packaged for sale, digial scale, along with new/unused bagging materials, according tot he incident report. The following is an itemized list of found items: a clear sandwich bag containing approximately a half ounce of marijuana, eight individual clear sandwich bags containing small amounts of marijuana packaged for sale, a digital scale, a glass jar with marijuana residue, a package of new, unsed sandwich bags and small ziplock bags. The 17-year-old student, of Broomall, was arrested.

Driver Gets Pulled Over for Speeding, Crashes Car, Attempts to Flee Scene

On Nov. 3 at 11:30 a.m., police were conducting a traffic detail in the southbound lanes of the 300 block of Media Line Road when police observed a Chrysler Concorde traveling 45mph in a 25mph zone. The driver of the vehicle Patrick Wynne, 25, of Havertown, acknowledged police presence and slowed down, but when police approached the vehicle at the driver’s side window of Wynne’s vehicle, he accelerated and fled southbound on the 400 block of Media Line Road at a high rate of speed, said police. Police followed the vehicle toward Media Line and Gradyville roads when police saw that Wynne’s sedan was wrecked on the roadway in the 3600 block of Gradyville Road. As police approached the car crash, Wynne was seen fleeing on foot in an attempt to elude from police, according to the incident report. Upon Wynne’s arrest, police discovered two open packets of Suboxone (8mg and 2mg). Wynne was taken to Springfield Hospital for blood withdrawal. He was arrested and charged on six counts–driving under the influence, driving while suspended DUI-related, unlawful to issue a false ID, maximum speed limits established in zones, fleeing or attempting to elude officer and reckless driving.

Two Attempted Fake Drug Prescriptions at Mackey's Pharmacy

On Nov. 3 at approximately 3:10 p.m., police responded to on 3537 West Chester Pike for a reported fraudulent prescription. Upon arrival, police spoke with the pharmacist who told police that Dion Lewis, 42, of Philadelphia, presented a prescription note authored by Dr. Steven William Breecker. The pharmacist asked Lewis for identification and then proceeded to call the listed phone number on the prescription, in which the person who picked up was unable to verify that the number was for a doctor’s office. The pharmacist called Breecker’s medical office in Philadelphia who confirmed that the license and DEA numbers were correct but nothing else, and instructed the pharmacist not to fill the request for 100 tablets of Roxicodone (30 mg), a controlled substance, said police. The pharmacist told the man that they were going to inform the police at which time Lewis fled the store. Lewis is charged on two counts of prohibited acts/penalties, including criminal conspiracy of a controlled substance, drug, device, etc. by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception, or subterfuge and for the acquisition or obtaining of possession of a controlled substance by misrepresentation, fraud, forgery, deception, or subterfuge.

On Nov. 2 at approximately 5:56 p.m., police responded to Mackey’s Pharmacy for an attempted fraudulent drug prescription. According to police, Robert Yackel, 46, of Phoenixville, handed the pharmacist a fake prescription slip for 90 Oxycontin Pills (40 mg) from the office of Dr. Christina L. Herring. Upon further investigation, Herring provided Newtown police with a written statement stating that the prescription slip handed to the pharmacist dated on Oct. 31, 2011, was fraudulent and that the date had been changed. Yackel later admitted to handing the prescription script to the pharmacist to be filled for his “RSD” medical condition. Yackel is charged on two counts–prohibited acts and engaging in criminal conspiracy.

Parts of Knights of Columbus Roof Cut Up

On Nov. 2 at 12:14 a.m., police received information about a vandalism incident reported at the on Route 252/Newtown Street Road. Upon arrival, police met with the steward of the building who told police that they had a leak in the roof on the north side of the building since Hurrcane Irene had come through, according to the incident report. The man told police they originally suspected it to be storm damage but when they had a roofer come in to fix the roof, the worker discovered that several parts of the roof had been cut in several locations, said police. According to police, the building is a flat roof and the membrane had been sliced as well as the insulation underneath, which allowed rain water to seep through over the last several weeks. Police are further investigating this incident.

Man Arrested for DUI, Tasered in Casey's Parking Lot

On Oct. 26 at approximately 10:48 p.m., police responded to the parking lot of located at the 3500 block of West Chester Pike/Route 3 for a two-vehicle crash. Upon arrival, police observed one vehicle had been struck on the front bumper as another vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala, had been backed from a parking spot and into the bumper of the other vehicle, said police. When police asked for license and other vehicle documents, the striking vehicle’s driver, Eric Lambert, 40, of Lester, ignored all requests from police and continued to speak on his Bluetooth earpiece cell phone, said police. Lambert eventually supplied his driver’s license and complied to a portable breathalyzer test. According to police, instead of blowing into the device, Lambert strongly inhaled into the device. Lambert continued to resist being arrested and police were finally able to place the man under arrest for suspicion of driving while under in the influence with the aid of a taser device, said police. Police were also able to conduct a breathalyzer test in which Lambert had a 0.148 percent blood alcohol content. Lambert was transferred to Riddle Memorial Hospital emergency room for evaluation after telling police he was having trouble breathing, said police. Lambert was charged with resisting arrest, driving under the influence, careless driving and disorderly conduct.
