Police: Death of 5-Month-Old Girl Under Investigation

The Marple Township Police Department released the following information in regards to an infant's death that occurred on Sept. 4.

BROOMALL–On Sept. 4 at 11:31 a.m., the Delaware County 911 Center dispatched officers from the to a home on South New Ardmore Avenue.

The home is a private residence as well as a daycare center run by the homeowner. The daycare center is licensed by the State of Pennsylvania and recognized by Marple Township. 

According to the report, the dispatch was for an infant in cardiac arrest. Marple officers arrived along with medic units from Haverford Township. According to the report, CPR was being performed on a 5-month-old infant girl on the floor of the living room by the homeowner.

Medics and officers took over the CPR, according to the report. CPR was continued on the infant and the baby was transported to the emergency room at Bryn Mawr Hospital. 

The baby was pronounced dead by at 12:23 p.m. Both parents were present at the time of death.

According to police, the Montgomery County Medical Examiner’s Office is conducting an autopsy. The investigation into this death, said police in a press release, and the circumstances surrounding it continues by all of the appropriate authorities.
