Teen Steals Cell Phone While Speaking to Victim, Police Say

The thief appeared to be between 12 and 14 years old, police say.

A woman's cell phone was stolen by a teenager while she returned items at Old Navy at 400 S. State Rd in Springfield, according to Marple Township Police.

On Sept. 19, a victim reported to police that she had put her keys and cell phone on the store's service counter while she was returning items and after leaving the store, realized she did not have her phone, according to police.

The woman returned to the store and her Apple iPhone 4S was not on the counter.

The victim spoke to a store manager who checked video surveillance and found that at about 5:38 p.m., the phone was slid behind an item on the counter by a black woman standing at the counter, according to police.

The thief then put the phone into her pocket and left the store while speaking to victim, according to police.

The thief is described as a light skinned, black woman, between 12 and 14 years old, with a wild afro and was last seen wearing a blue plaid shirt, tan sweater and tan pants, according to police.
