Tires, Rims Stolen from Dealership Cars

Two vehicles parked at Hill Cadillac and Buick dealerships in Newtown Square had tires and rims stolen from them, police say.

Tires and rims were stolen from vehicles parked at Hill Cadillac and Buick dealerships along the 3900 block of West Chester Pike in Newtown Square on Nov. 27, according to Newtown Township Police.

A Hill Cadillac manager told police the tires and rims were missing from a silver Cadillac CTS, according to police.

The vehicle was parked backwards against a gate, with its rear facing West Chester Pike and there was a cinder block and a large stone, which had been crushed, placed underneath the frame, according to police.

Tires and rims were also missing from a white Buick Regal GS that was parked at the Buick dealership also on the 3900 block of West Chester Pike, according to police.

A mechanic at the Buick dealership told police he parked his Buick Regal in the rear lot of the Buick dealership, which is adjacent to CVS and backs up to Hickory Lane, according to police.

The mechanic told police he had his car parked there for about a week and as of Nov. 26 at 4:30 p.m. his vehicle was secure and intact, according to police.

Police said the same MO of using cinder block and stones, was used at the Buick dealership as at the Hill Cadillac incident, with the exception that the rear passenger axle was elevated with a black tire, while the other axles were secured using stones, according to police.

No surveillance video was available from the car dealerships but police were able to view footage from a CVS camera, which has an angle pointed to a portion of the Buick dealership parking lot, according to police.

At about 2:44 a.m., a figure is seen in the video footage moving in the area of the West Chester Pike entrance of the Buick lot, however the person made sure to stay out of the middle of the lot, by walking alongside the vehicles and avoiding the lighted area of the lot, according to police.

The figure is seen several times in the footage walking between the front and rear parking lots, according to police, and is last seen on the footage at 5:11 a.m. when a vehicle is also seen leaving the front parking lot.

Due to heavy rains and no zoom abilities on the surveillance footage, police could not make out a description of the person or the vehicle, according to police.
