Video: Delco Run for Heroes Start

Nearly 300 runners and walkers turned out for the in Springfield on a sunny Sunday morning.

Police and other first responders from Springfield, , Nether Providence and many other Delaware County municipalities directed participants at intersections along the route. Runners were rewarded with coffee and donuts at the finish line, plus cool water pouring out of an Aqua truck. 

The annual race, now in its 11th year, has raised about a quarter of a million dollars for the Delaware County Hero Scholarship Fund, which benefits the children of emergency responders who die in the line of duty. 

According to the posted race results, Kyle Brightbill, 36, was the top male finisher with a time of 17:57. Maryjo Miller, 37, was the first female finisher at 20:28. For full race results, visit runtheday.com.
