Woman Resells Stolen DVDs to Consignment Shop

The woman received a $19.50 payment for $115.86 in stolen DVDs, police say.

A woman stole several DVDs from one store and then sold them to a consignment shop minutes later in the same shopping center, according to Marple Township Police.

Police responded to ACME in Lawrence Park Shopping Center in Broomall for a retail theft at about 11:51 a.m. on Jan. 6 and were told a woman took 14 DVDs off the shelf and left the store without paying for them, according to police.

After leaving the store the 19-year-old Primos woman was seen entering Plato’s Closet also in Lawrence Park Shopping Center, according to police.

Police responded to Plato's Closet and identified the DVDs as stolen merchandise, which totaled about $115.86, according to police.

Plato's Closet, a resale store, paid the woman $19.50 for the DVDs, according to police.

The Plato's Closet store manager provided police with a receipt from the woman's resale, which had her name, address and phone number, according to police.

The woman was identified and charged with retail theft, according to police.
