Another Waiver Received For Delco Vets Memorial Association

Newtown Township Board of Supervisors recently approved a waiver requested by the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association located in Newtown Square.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association's (DCVMA) received another waiver request on erosion and sedimentation, and building permit fees for the memorial located on West Chester Pike/Rt. 3 and Alice Grim Boulevard in Newtown Square.

The Newtown Township Board of Supervisors gave the approval at the last supervisors meeting on Jan. 28. 

In and determined that the township would waive any fees dependent on the third-party's contractor.

"We were okay with not charging anything, just as long as the township was not charged anything," said Catania at the last supervisors meeting.

According to Catania, Stantec Engineering will waive their fee to the township to which the township will pass along that waived fee to the DCVMA.

Supervisor John Nawn indicated that the township is waiving the fees as waived by the contractor but not the inspections to the memorial.

In addition, Township Manager Mike Trio stated that the DCVMA will be removing the eagle statue–currently located in the lobby of the Newtown Public Library–on March 14. 

According to Trio, a grand opening for the memorial site has been scheduled for mid-April this year.
