April is Child Abuse Prevention Month

Delaware County is promoting programs dedicated to improving the lives of children who are victims of abuse.

MEDIA–Delaware County Councilman David J. While presented a resolution declaring April to be Child Abuse Prevention Month to stress the importance of preventing child abuse and neglect and promoting programs dedicated to improving the lives of children who are victims of abuse and to eliminate such tragedies.

The resolution was accepted at the April 4 Delaware County Council meeting by (from left) Helen McGoohin, of the Delaware County Department of Intercommunity Health Coordination, Maureen Hennessey Herman, Director of Intercommunity Health Coordination, Dierdre Gordon, Director, Children & Youth Services of Delaware County, Anne Shenberger, of CASA/Youth Advocates, White, Carol Goertzel, of Pathways, PA, District Attorney Jack Whelan, Pat Kosinski, of Family Support Line, and Dr. George Avetian, the County Government Senior Medical Advisor.

Joining in the presentation were (2d row, from left) Council Chairman Thomas J. McGarrigle, Councilman John P. McBlain, Council Vice Chairman Mario J. Civera Jr. and Councilwoman Colleen P. Morrone.
