Are You Registered to Vote?

The deadline to register to vote in the Nov. 8 general elections is Tuesday, Oct. 11.

The last day for Delaware County residents to register to vote in the Nov. 8 General Municipal Election is Tuesday, Oct. 11.

New voters can register to vote in person at the Delaware County Voter Registration Commission or receive forms at municipal buildings and public libraries.

The “Motor Voter” law of 1995 expanded methods to register to vote in a general, municipal or primary election, enabling motorists to register when they apply for or renew drivers licenses.

Public schools, armed forces recruiting centers and area agencies for the aged, such as the Delaware County Office of Services for the Aging, and the Marriage License Bureau of the County Register of Wills Office, also have been established under the law as registration distribution points.

Registration forms can be returned to Voter Registration, Government Center Building, 201 W. Front St., Media, PA  19063.

An eligible voter who lives in Delaware County can learn if they are registered by contacting the Voter Registration Commission at 610-891-4659. People who are hearing impaired can call the special TDD line at 610-891-4306

To be eligible to vote, an American citizen must be 18-years-old by Election Day. Citizens who turn 18 no later than Nov. 8, 2011, are eligible, if registered in time, to vote.

The County Registration Commission, located in the Government Center Lobby, in Media, is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
