Beatty Hills Sewer Project Bids Approved

Marple Township Board of Commissioners approved two bids for the Beatty Hills Sewer Project.

BROOMALL–The Board of Commissioners unanimously approved two bids for the Beatty Hills Sewer Project grinder pumps and materials on Monday night.

Both bids were awarded to Site Specific Design, Inc., of Glenside, PA.

The first bid was for the bulk purchase of sewer grinder pump stations. The low bid was for $117,831, about $1,000 less than expected, Township Engineer Joe Mastronardo said.

Homeowners, who are sharing the project costs with the township, must pay for the sewer grinder pumps. But the township is bidding out the pumps to help reduce homeowners’ costs.

The second bid was for materials. That contract was for $54,819, Mastronardo said.

Public Works Director Edward Cross told the commission that work on the Beatty Hills Sewer Project has started and the project,, is going well.

“Working with Springfield, it’s like working with Haverford Township.  It’s a bunch of great guys…It’s a very easy transition over there,” Cross said.

Township officials encouraged , which asked if they would opt in to the new sewer system back in February. Hamaday previously noted the survey would help gauge the amount of materials and pumps that would need to go out to bid.
