Casey, Meehan Get Sworn In For Second Term

Both Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) and Rep. Pat Meehan (R-PA7) were sworn in on Thursday for a second term.

WASHINGTON, D.C.–Pennsylvania government officials, including Sen. Bob Casey (D-PA) and Rep. Pat Meehan (R-PA7) were sworn in on Thursday at Capitol Hill. 

In a statement issued earlier this week, Casey said he's optimistic about 2013.

"My top priority in the coming year is to build on the economic progress so far — helping to create jobs, reduce the deficit and strengthen the economy," he said.

 "It is my honor to serve the people of the 7th congressional district for a second term," his Facebook posting reads. "Every day, I appreciate the great privilege that it is to represent the voice of our district in Congress. Our country is facing many great challenges indeed, and there is much work ahead for the 113th Congress."

In addition, U.S. Senator Pat Toomey was assigned to the Senate Finance Committee in his new term. Toomey met with Media Mayor Bob McMahon (D) in Washington D.C. on Thursday to discuss the veterans education initiative.

Pat Toomey stated on his Facebook page about working in the new term: "I welcome the newest members of Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation to Washington: Rep. Keith RothfusCongressman Matt Cartwright and Rep. Scott Perry. Looking forward to working together for the good of Pennsylvania."
