HR2576 and 674: Both approved by the House Oct. 27, these laws repeal certain segments of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to create tax breaks for companies providing services to government agencies—federal, state and local. HR674, also called the "Three Percent Withholding Repeal and Job Creation Act," kills a 3 percent withholding requirement in the hopes of generating jobs. With similar provisions, HR2576 allows individuals to count social security benefits in modified adjusted gross income to determine eligibility for certain tax credits and health care programs.

  • 2576 (passed 262-157) YES: Patrick Meehan (R-7)
  • 674 (passed 405-16) YES: Patrick Meehan (R-7)
