DA: County Employee Fired Amid Missing Money Investigation

The former Chief Deputy of Delaware County's Register of Wills & Clerk of Orphans' Court was terminated on Nov. 13 as the District Attorney's Office investigates allegations of missing money.

MEDIA–Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan confirmed Thursday that his office is investigating allegations of missing money in the Office of the Register of Wills. 

Whelan was unable to confirm the amount of money at issue.

"We're currently scrutinizing the Register of Wills," said Whelan. "We're looking at the extent of any missing money and we are reviewing an allegation of missing money."

One county employee has already been terminated in connection with the investigation, according to Whelan. Christine Trout, a 32-year county employee, was fired Tuesday.

Trout served as the deputy chief in the Delaware County Register of Wills & Clerk of Orphans' Court.

She has not been arrested or charged with a crime.

According to Whelan, Trout is currently being investigated by the Delaware County Bureau of Criminal Investigation Division.
