County Warns Residents To Stay Out Of Flooded Waters

The Delaware County Department of Intercommunity Health reminds resident to avoid recreational activities in flooded surface waters.

The Delaware County Department of Intercommunity Health recently issued a press release warning residents to stay out of flooded surface waters.

"As a result of the on-going flood event from Hurricane Irene, the Delaware County Department of Intercommunity Health recommends that all residents of Delaware County avoid recreational contact with flood waters due to the unknown amount of raw sewage and waste chemicals that may be present," states the press release.

Both surface waterways and standing surface water remaining from the flood are applied to this warning. To protect the health and safety of all residents, the Department of Intercommunity Health recommends:

  •  No boating or rowing;
  •  No swimming, wading or contact with the water;
  •  No fishing or consumption of fish caught in these waters; and
  •  No pets allowed in the water.

For further information of flood clean-up procedures, please access the Delaware County Department of Intercommunity Health website or contact them at 610-891-5311.
