GOP and Dems Nearly Split in 19008 Donations

Broomall residents have contributed $44,790 to candidates and Political Action Committees in 2012.

Republican and democratic candidates and organizations are nearly split in receiving money from Broomall residents this election cycle, according to data from the Center for Responsive Politics.

Of the $44,790 contributed to candidates and Political Action Committees this election cycle by 19008 residents, $31,721 was donated to the top 10 recipients, and of that number, 71 percent was contributed to a nearly even split between republican and democratic candidates and Political Action Committees.

SAP America, based in Newtown Square and a Political Action Committee, is the top recipient in Broomall donations, with $7,200 contributed by donors in zip code 19008, according to the Center for Responsive Politics

In terms of presidential campaigns, however, in 19008, President Obama's campaign comes in second on the list for the top recipient with $5,141 donated, while republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's campaign has earned the third spot on the list with $3,750.

Obama ($3,265,682) has a lead in donations over Romney ($2,841,480) in the Greater Philadelphia/New Jersey area.

Residents of 19008 have contributed $44,790 to candidates and Political Action Committees in 2012, a little less than the average $50,227 per zip code, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.

The contributions are based on Federal Election Commission data made available electronically on Sept. 4.
