Commissioners Approve Contract for Stream Stabilization

The Little Darby Stream Bank Stabilization Project will correct erosion and resolve a lawsuit against Marple Township.

BROOMALL–The Board of Commissioners on Monday night unanimously approved a contract payment to JMC Contractors, Inc. for an amount of up to $69,440, for the completion of the Little Darby Stream Bank Stabilization Project on Fawn Hill Road in Broomall.

The project is a result of a grant which the township received after it was sued by a homeowner who said the township was at fault for allowing storm water from a storm water pipe to erode his property, Township Manager Anthony Hamaday told Marple Newtown Patch after Monday night's meeting.

The township applied for and received a safe water grant to correct the erosion, Hamaday said.

The Little Darby Stream Bank Stabilization Project also settles the lawsuit, Hamaday said.

Township Engineer Joe Mastronardo told the commissioners that the stream stabilization started last week.
