Marple Newtown Election Day 2011: What You Need to Know

Here's a map of voting locations for Marple and Newtown residents and information on voting in Nov. 8th's election.

Marple Newtown residents will be heading to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 8, to cast their ballots in the 2011 municipal and school board elections. In addition, several Delaware County Council seats area up for election as well as Common Pleas Court and district attorney seats.

In , wards 1, 3, 5 and 7 commissioner seats are all up for re-election this year in which all seats are uncontested. In , a midterm and full-term seat are up for grabs in which both are uncontested as well. There are five republicans and three democrats running for five open seats on .

The polls will be open for the casting of ballots from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day. Should you be in line at 8 p.m. waiting to vote, the county assures that you will still be permitted to vote. But if you get in line once the polls have closed, voters will not be permitted to vote and will be strictly enforced.

The unofficial results including for state courts, County Council, Common Pleas Court and District Attorney as well as local elections will be listed by municipality and will include up-to-the-minute running totals for all of Delaware County on each municipal posting.

The county announced that the posted results will be machine totals only. They will not include absentee ballots, provisional ballots or write-in votes. Results generally begin posting after 9 p.m. To get to the results, go to the county's website at www.co.delaware.pa.us and click on "Election 2011."

If you're voting in a new ward or precinct, even if you've voted in a different district or precinct previously, you will be considered a new voter. New voters must present a photo ID or an acceptable non-photo ID, which may include a Delaware County voter registration card, bank statement, utility bill, firearm permit, paycheck or government check.
