Marple Write-In Candidate Makes November Ballot

A write-in candidate in Tuesday's primary will appear in the race for 2nd Ward commissioner in November.

Marple Township's 2nd Ward will see a former commissioner on the ballot in November's Election.

Democrat John Butler received 19 write-in votes in Tuesday's Primary Election, according to the Delaware County Daily Times, and 10 votes are required and all will need to be certified by the Delaware County Board of Elections.

Butler was a commissioner for eight years before losing to Jan Ceton in 2009.

"I didn’t decide to mount the write-in until noon on Primary Day," Butler told the Delco Times. "I don’t like the lack of transparency and the fact the board never answers questions during the public forum."
