Newtown Approves Left Turn Signal at Troop Farm, Rt. 252

The left turn lane already exists at the intersection but the traffic signal needed to be modified.

At the request of residents, the Newtown Township Board of Supervisors approved traffic signal modifications at Troop Farm Road and Route 252.

Supervisor John Nawn said at the board's Monday meeting that the current closure of nearby Gradyville Road has caused traffic problems and a left turn signal was needed at the intersection.

The left turn lane and traffic light already exist at the intersection but the traffic signal needed to be modified in order for the signal to have a left turn arrow.

Nawn said the township's traffic engineer investigated the issue and determined it was warranted and presented a plan to PennDOT which was approved.

The cost was estimated to be $14,547.53 for installation, change of the controller and wiring installation, Nawn said.

The modifications were unanimously approved by the board and work will begin immediately.

Slightly further down Route 252, a new left turn lane was also recently constructed in anticipation of The Grande at Muirwood Hill, a new townhome development.
