Newtown GOP Introduces 2011 Endorsed Candidates

The Newtown Township Republican Committee introduced its fall candidates at a special dinner at Aronimink Country Club on Oct. 5.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–The Republican Committee officially introduced their endorsed candidates for November's election at a VIP reception dinner on Oct. 5 at .

In addition to recognizing their endorsed candidates on the ballot this fall, the committee gave special recognition to Dottie Jacobs for her years of service as 's administrative assistant, since 1984, and as committeewoman for 32 years.

, who currently sits on the Newtown Planning Commission as vice chairman, has been endorsed by the committee to replace the seat on the Board of Supervisors, which has been temporarily occupied by . In January, Nawn will swap seats to permanently fill Slawter's spot on the board.

"I'd like to keep it [Newtown Township] a place to move into. I want to maintain Newtown's budget. Newtown has one of the lowest taxes in the county and I'd like to keep it that way," said Nawn. "We've got a great police chief and manager who are doing a great job–it's maintaining that."

, still stands on his platform of "honesty, integrity and transparency."

"The we recently made...we're more efficient in township structure," said Partridge. "We're looking at revenue opportunities to meet your expenses and obligations but also keeping it transparent and having an open mind to improve the quality of life."

Rep. Thomas Killion (R-168), and a former county councilmember, shared, "We have two new candidates in the county council running this year who can bring a lot to the council and the judges we have running are rated well qualified by the Bar Association. The democrats running aren't even rated. I think we have a great ticket and look forward to November."

John McBlain, one of the newcomers running in the race alongside newcomer Colleen Morrone and vetrean councilmember Thomas McGarrigle for the county council seats, also believed the three made a great trio.

"In this environment, we have to look at the county level on economic development and job creation in general," said McBlain. "It's really our three strengths–I've been involved in the development of Harrah's and have done extensive work in Chester; Tom McGarrigle owns a small business; and Colleen Morrone is a chief officer for Goodwill and specializes in job training. We're trying to transform Delaware County into the next phase in this changing environment."
