Newtown Municipal Authority Chairman Resigns

Municipal Authority Chairman Bob Jackson resigns through email after two of his requests were denied by the Board of Supervisors.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–In an email dated June 29 at 3:04 p.m., 's Municipal Authority Chairman Bob Jackson stated his resignation from the Authority after two requests that were denied by the Board of Supervisors.

In the email, Jackson requests that the supervisors move forward with two approvals: to convert the Newtown Township Municipal Authority to an operating authority and to agree to employ Jackson as a paid executive director of the Municipal Authority at a salary of $7,500 per month on a part-time basis.

An email dated on June 20 was sent to the Board of Supervisors from Mike Trio, acting interim manager, seeking direction on Jackson's requests.

In another email dated on June 29 at 10:54 a.m., Trio responds to Jackson that both requests were denied. The email states that the supervisors decided that the Municipal Authority will not be an operating authority and the executive director position within the Municipal Authority will not be a paid position nor would it be created or funded by the township.

Several hours later, an email was sent by Jackson that states his resignation as chairman of the Municipal Authority due to the township's decisions on his requests.
