Newtown Township Swears In New Police Chief

Newtown Township officials swore in Chris Lunn as the township's newest police chief on Jan. 28.

NEWTOWN SQUARE–An official swearing-in ceremony was held on Monday night to swear in Newtown Township Police Department's new Police Chief Chris Lunn.

Lunn was sworn in by Magisterial District Judge Leon Hunter III and took oath on his mother's Bible. Lunn was joined by his wife Michele and daughter Coryn as well as a handful of other family members and relatives.

Hunter said he has sworn in Lunn four times already and "looks forward to many more years of his service to the community."

Hunter congratulated the Board of Supervisors for making a "very wise choice" on the appointment of Lunn as chief of police.

"He will represent our township very, very well–not only here in the township but as they meet with our townships and other departments around the county and that's very important to have that representation," said Hunter.

In September 2011, Lunn was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant in the Newtown Township Police Department. And in November of last year, Lunn was appointed as the acting chief of the department due to the resignation of former police chief Dennis Anderson.
