Nursing Home Inspection Report: Dunwoody Care Center

BROOMALL–William Hood Dunwoody Care Center is a short-term rehabilitation, respite care, skilled nursing care, and personal care center in Newtown Square. Dunwoody offers specialized service in memory support for Alzheimer's or Dementia residents.

The Department of Health and Human Services Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services filed a survey report on William Hood Dunwoody Care Center on July 25, 2011.

Dunwoody was given a severity grade of D, based on three situations, on a scale from A to L, with A being the least serious and L being the most serious. 

A severity score of D through F means no actual harm was done, but there is the potential for minimal harm that does not impose immediate jeopardy, according to Medicare. 

Report Findings

According to the report filed, based on clinical record review and staff interview, it was determined that the facility failed the following:

• Develop policies that prevent mistreatment, neglect, or abuse of residents or theft of resident property.

• Make sure that doctors see a resident's plan of care at every visit and make notes about progress and orders in writing.

• Make sure that doctors visit residents regularly, as required.
